Solang valley is the place in Manali where paragliding can be enjoyed.It is 14km from Manali. The best season to enjoy this sport is during the summer months from May to September, when the skies are clear and the wind aids is paragliding.
Location
Manali is 580 kilometers (193 miles) north of Delhi, at the northern end of the Kullu Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Hand gliding and parachuting when combined is called paragliding. A paraglider has to run down the hill at 40 degree slope, the running results in air filling in the columns of the keel, this allow the glider to take off. The Solang valley slopes are perfectly made for paragliding. 
Paragliding is organized all round the year in Kullu valley in areas like Solang Bijli Mahadev, Marhi and Fatru. Generally two types of flights are offered.They are expalined below
Short Flight
 In the short flight the inexperienced client is taken above 100-150 ft high and they join the pilot in the double seated paraglide. It gives you the thrilling experience of viewing the surrounding with the pilot taking care of maneuvering the glider. This flight lasts for one or one and a half minute.
High Flight
 The  high flight is conducted by experienced pilots and this flight last for 20-30 minutes.
Best season
February to June and September to November are the best seasons for paragliding.
Some Useful Information
When the weather conditions are perfect it is possible to stay in the air for more than three hours and rise to a height of 3000 m. The geographical conditions of Manali are conducive for all grades of paragliding. Any person above 15 years of age and weighing between 45 to 85 kgs can paraglide. Training is a very important part of this sport. A five-day course cost about $135. Costing around Rs 1500 for a 15 minute fly, paragliding is a risky sport and tourists are advised to get insured before enjoying sport. The gears and equipments are also provided by the operators

 By Air
Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport.Bhuntar is connected to Delhi by air. Delhi is the major nearest airport, which is about 565 km away from Manali. Delhi airport is well connected with all major cities in India and many cities abroad.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar.It is 50km away from manali.
By Bus 
Manali is well connected to other tourist destinations near by in Himachal by private deluxe bus services. State owned services are also available connecting Manali to other cities.
