Nainital Lake

A small and beautiful place in Kumaon hills of Uttaranchal. Nainital is a very beautiful hill station, which is surrounded by mountains by three sides. It is major hill station in north India. ‘Naini’ that means cool air & ‘Taal’ means lake, when we add these two words then make “Nainital”. It is like a paradise on earth, which is situated at the height of 1938 meters from sea level. Nainital discovered by British, in 1841 as a holiday resort. It is must visit place in Uttaranchal state.

Naini Lake
Naini Lake is the backbone of the city of Nainital, for it is after this lake that Nainital was named. Naini Lake is surrounded by green hills, the beauty of which is breathtaking and should be captured as a photographic memory forever.
The town of Nainital is situated around the Naini Lake. The lake was formed out of the eye that fell out of Sati’s body when she was being taken back to Mount Kailash by a sad Lord Shiva. The place where her eye or Nain fell formed a crescent shaped lake, taken to the emerald green eyes of Lord Shiva’s wife Sati. Hence the name Naini lake.
Dorothy Seat
Dorothy Seat

 Dorothy Seat provides the visitor a partial view of Nainital and its surrounding regions. It is situated at an height of 2,292 meters above sea-level.
Hanumangarhi
Hanumangarhi is popular for its spectacular view of the sunset. There is also a temple dedicated to the Hindu God Hanuman. Hanumangarhi is situated at an height of 1,951 meters above sea level.
Kilbury
 Kilbury is an ideal place for a picnic. It is situated at an height of 2,194 meters.
Land’s End
Lands End

Land’s End stands high at an altitude of 2118 meters and gives a panoramic view of the neighboring hills and the green valley surrounding Nainital. The main attraction of this point is the splendid view of the Khurpatal lake. One can take a vehicle to reach Barapathar and then walk up a distance of one km to reach this spot.
Naina peak
Naina peak or China peak as it is known, is located at an altitude of 2611 meters and is the highest peak of the town. Distanced about six kms away from the town, a ride on a pony or horses can take you to the Naina Peak. The Naina Peak opens up to a beautiful panoramic view of the snow laden Himalayas in the west to the Api and Nari peaks in the east.
How To Get There
By Air
 Pant Nagar is the nearest airport that is 71 Kilometres away from Nainital.
By Train
 The nearest railway station is Kathgodam (Haldwani).
By Bus
The closest bus stand lies at Tallital. It is simply a kilometre from the centre of Nainital.  It  is well connected with the all-major parts of India. It is 310 kms away from Delhi.
